fill your bucket.
You only have one, fill it.
Opening statement: Life is awesome.
I ticked over 38 this year and I must say, excluding some heavy face punches from 'life', I don't feel a lot different from my tender 20's. But, there is no mistaking this gift of 'time' has amply provided a buck-load of golden doozies in the form of experiences, insight and invaluable life lessons.
I feel very honoured that Haley asked me to contribute to her creation. I love the idea of She Lives. So it got me thinking, how do I best contribute and add value to her creation.
Well, why not start by sharing from my well of doozies? In the form of stories, insights, thoughts and tips for the Him, in Her Lives (You see what I did there?)
If WE can collectively add value to YOUR lives then that's gotta be a good thing right?
Enough babbling, on with it. My first contribution is going to be a reflective piece.
Life is like a kids game at the beach called 'Fill your bucket'.
The rules of the game are simple;
- You get a bucket called Life
- You have a limited but unknown period of time to fill your bucket with Life.
- And the moment you are born the clock of Life starts counting down.
- You can choose what goes in but sometimes you will have no choice but to put rocks in the bucket.
- Ps. Rocks are not bad, they are just heavy.
If we use this analogy and try to live with a sense of excitement (as much as possible) and adventure, knowing that we have the choice to fill our bucket with deeply rich experiences then we give ourselves the opportunity to have an amazing life.
So, get at it. Go fill your bucket.
PS. Handle rocks with care. Sometimes they contain gems.
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the guy who'll decide where to go."
